Ch Stoney comes to us through the graciousness of Sara Gersbach from Toshimi Akitas of Seneca, Illinois.  Toshimi Akitas decided to slow down on their breeding and showing program.  However, they wanted to someone to preserve and  to carry  forth their legendary bloodline.  Southwest Akitas is honored to have been chosen to fulfill this request.  Since the Toshimi dogs all have strong Goshen bloodlines as a foundation, they fit well in our breeding program. Stoney is one of fours acquisitions from Toshimi Akitas.

Stoney has the legendary Goshen head and body type.  In fact, he looks very similar to Hoss, in the face.  He is one of the gentlest Akitas that I have ever met.  All he wants is love, attention and affection.  Among his best assets that people notice is his great rear quarters.  In fact,  Stoney had  the first OFA evaluation of his hips in August 2007, when he was 6 years old.   The OFA graded his hips as EXCELLENT.  Click on his video to see the smooth and  graceful movement indicative of his sound structure.

Of the 30 dogs listed on Stoney's four generation pedigree:

• 21 (70%) are champions
  

• 9 (30%) are Register of Merit (ROM) recipients for having demonstrated genetic excellence by producing a minimum of 10 champion offspring, if a male and a minimum 5 champion  of offspring, if a female.
  

• He goes back to the legendary, and now hard to obtain, bloodlines of Windom, Toshimi and Goshen.

Stoney re-started his show career with a bang.  He obtained his second major win on his first weekend of shows  with us.  We completed his championship not long after that.
