Champion Grandslam Slugger of Deer Run, Companion Dog
SouthWest Akitas
Slugger came to SouthWest Akitas due to the graciousness of Larry Kaplan of Deer Run Akitas and John Penatello of Grandslam Akitas, both of New York state.  He is co-owned with my father, Henry Brandon of Shreveport, Louisiana. 

Slugger is a very well bred dog.   He is from Ch Sondaisa's River Rogue and out of mother to many champions, Ch Serdess Cristal The Tector, ROM.  Of the 30 dogs listed on Ch Slugger's four generation pedigree:


Slugger has had a very successful show career.  His wins include

* 2006 Sangre de Cristo Kennel Club * 2005 Genesee County Kennel Club (6-9 Puppy Class)
* 2006 Queensboro Kennel Club (12-18 months Class)- Best of Winners (3 Point Major Win)

He achieved his confirmation championship at 14 months.  He will be shown on special occasions as we work on obedience titles.

Slugger became one of the very few Akitas to recieve an Obedience title in October 2007.   He achieved his CD by getting threee first palce finishes.Slugger's temperament is outstanding. 

He loves people and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes.  He is eager to understand what is being asked of him, and diligent in obedience. 

We are confident Slugger will produce great puppies when mated with the bitches that we have here at SouthWest Akitas.
